Elliot Smith is an artist that I think was incredibly talented and extremely dark. He was obviously a troubled guy, and his music showed a lot of character and emotion behind his pain. He’s been compared to Nick Drake a lot, who I think is an amazing dude - and I feel like it’s rightfully so that Smith would get such a comparison. I also sort of stand by my opinion that he knew he wanted out of this life and put in his time extremely well before he left. His songs are haunting and crafted beautifully. There’s hardly a bad thing to say about him.
Eddie Vedder - I like some Pearl Jam stuff, but don’t really care for Vedder’s voice too much. It gets sort of annoying after a while. Nasaly and he holds out notes with vibrato and it just irks me. That being said, I also blame him for the creation of that style of singing and now we have our Scott Stapps and our dude’s from Hinder or whatever. Ten and Vs. are great records though. I also love the video for Do The Evolution.
