American Nightmare is one of the best hardcore bands of the late 90s and early 2000s. Much too often imitated, never duplicated. They set a goal lyrically and emotionally as far as bands went. Wes’ lyrics were about more than just unity and fighting back against the system or some girl who broke his heart. They were poetic. Dude has been through a lot in his life and he frankly set the standard for the hardcore frontman whether he realized it or not. I didn’t see their reunion but I bet they played really well considering they probably were tour haggard or coked out like the three times I saw them. I also stand by the fact that the Sun Isn’t Getting Any Brighter sounds better than Background Music.
